| | Eating ice cream even the weather is 5 degree celcius in Europe. | | I am an asian, and asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia do have hot weather. That is why, ice cream is one of the best dessert to eat while in the beach resort or walking on the street with friends or chit chat in a cafe bar or restaurant. However, I never knew that a country like Russia while having a negative degree celcius of temperature, still enjoying eating ice cream. To my surprise, almost all European coutries even when they have snow still eat ice cream. Well, it is already cold and they maybe eating an ice cream does not add up to what they feel being cold. Anyways, they can eat ice cream when inside an establishment with a heater, then I think it will be better. Just a new fact for me. | |
| | Your favourite cinema/movie theater | | I love art house cinemas - the non multiplex/mall where you watch quality films (often foreign language or indepedents). What are these called in other countries and what are they like?In Britain, I note a downward trend of late. They used to have a diffent feel - relaxed, more timeless- but now they are trying to be trendy and loosing the very character that made them sepcial. And showing opera by satellite and blockbusters
I love old cinemas (esp 1910s) but also converted builings- we have medieval buildings, industrial buildings, chapels, a carpet warehouse and a snooker club that all serve as cinemasVery important to me is the cafe bar to enjoy food drink and good company - or to relax alone aunitl late.
I like the events and seasons that arts cinemas have too. And the lack of popcorn Tell me about your special cinemas and where they are so I can visit or at least look them up! | |
| | Does this sound like a fantasy? | | Hi guys, I am a teacher and I hate it. Everyday, I teach a bunch of disinterested people and it's really getting me down. I think I am getting myself into a rut and don't know how the heck to get outta it!My dream......is to start my own cafe/bar. It doesn't need to be a big place, just a place for people to enjoy good food and a few drinks. I am a fantastic cook, but I have no formal training, however, all of my friends (who are the most critical bunch of people I know) say I should do this for a living. How do I get started? I need someone with a lot of cash to hire me and let me run the place (food & atmosphere wise) I livein Asia, but come from the UK, but I have no preference for location (not the UK)could some of you give me some feedback?cheers | |
| | For the rich or for the common? What should I do? | | I started an English club with a friend several days ago. However we have some agurements on the operation of the club. He insisted that we should choose a cafe bar as the spot of our club and our members be rich people while I want everyone who loves English to participate in and the spot to be in one of my houses . And I don't think making money more important than making friends at first step. Yesterday We had a big quarrel and now all of our work stagnates. Should I insist my opinion or give it up? | |
