Those could be fake!>A ring of art counterfeiters has sold thousands of prints since 1999 bearing the forged signatures of Picasso, Miro, Dali and other famous artists to buyers around the world.>"Thousands of people will learn they ... bought a fake," said Chicago-based U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald, who announced indictments on Wednesday charging two Americans, a Spaniard from Barcelona, and two Italians from Milan and Monsummano with multiple counts of fraud.Have you ever bought anything on ebay and felt cheated or you are happy with what you got?Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080321/od_nm/art_fakes_odd_dc;_ylt=ApETfH1Xu2b4q.U4MI8VyRbtiBIF
| | Lost works of art | | Roses are red
I say phooey
If I wanted popups
I'd go back to YuwieHaving a case of deja vu here? That's because I posted that lovely work of art two days ago in a discussion talking about the ads that were popping up from the blue highlighted words on here. That discussion got deleted and I didn't want to lose the poem, silly as it is.And no, this discussion isn't about popups or deleted discussions.[em]rasp[/em]In college, I took a class about German culture in the first half of the 20th century. There was this painter, Franz Marc. I like his work very much. Sadly, he was killed in World War I. One of his most famous paintings, Tower of Blue Horses, went missing during World War II. Maybe it was destroyed. Maybe it was stolen and will eventually turn up. At least we still have photos of it:http://www.art-prints-on-demand.com/a/franz-marc/the-tower-of-the-blue-hor.htmlI guess a lot of precious things have been lost over the years due to war, fire, etc.A friend of mine over on Yuwie recently had a house fire. He lost, among other things, photos of one of his ancestors that were taken with Abraham Lincoln.I wonder how many of us have lost something...
| | Do you have a collection of some kind? | | I had a stamp collection and a coin collection when I was very young. I lost interest quickly and they didn't amount to much. Then in 1993 my Mom bought me a Peanuts`/Snoopy snow globe. I really liked it and started collecting more Peanuts`/Snoopy snow globes. I now have 96 Peanuts` snow globes. I like the Christmas ones the best. They are SOOoo adorible. But it didn't stop there. Not only did I collect Peanuts` snow globes, but since 1993, I collected just about every Peanuts`/ Snoopy item I could afford. I bought hand signed drawings and pictures by Charles Shultz from a local art gallery. They have doubled in value with the passing of Charles Shultz in 2000. Another reason for their value sky rocketing is the opening of the Snoopy museum. The museum is buying everything they can get their hands on making mine more valuable. I also have limited edition fine art prints drawn by Tom Everhart. If you haven't heard of him, he was the only person Shultz authorized to draw his Peanuts` gang. On May 17, 2001, they released the Snoopy stamp from the Post Office. I have 200 stamped envelopes with Peanuts` characters on them cancelled on the first day of... | |
| | a big makeover for SRK | | Farah Khan wants to give Shah Rukh Khan a complete image makeover in her next movie Om Shanti Om .
One can expect something new when Farah Khan happens to be at the helm of things. She made a superb directorial debut in?Main Hoon Na?. And now she will incorporate the fashion statements and styles of 1970s into her next venture?Om Shanti Om?, which again has Shah Rukh in the lead role. The movie will feature Deepika Padukone as SRK?s heroine. Others in the cast are Shreyas Talpade, Kiron Kher and Bindu.
Farah has reportedly hired three designers to do costumes in the film. Karan Johar will design SRK?s outfits, Manish Malhotra will design for Deepika and Sanjiv Mulchandani for the rest of the cast.
The costumes will be from the fashion of the 70s: hippie kurtas with pop-art prints and polka dots, printed shirts with long collars, and ghararas with crocheted flowers, etc.
Even the hairdos of the main actors will be reminiscent of the styles of the 70s.
Farah, who has been a great admirer of entertainers from the 70s, says her movie?Om Shanti Om? is not in any way based on Subhash Ghai?s movie?Karz? that had a song with the same title.
Farah has been busy with her movie?s...
